Summary | This paper proposes safety criteria for robotic skin materials used in healthcare applications. Current robotic skin materials raise concerns regarding safety owing to limited biological testing. Therefore, we proposed a self-healing hydrogel as a safe alternative. Hydrogels offer transparency, stretchability, and self-repairing mechanisms. This design ensures user safety, even during forceful contact. This study argues that the hydrogel qualifies as a medical device that requires evalua-tion under ISO 10993 standards. The evaluation should assess physical and chemical properties, cytotoxicity, sensitization, and irritation.
