Currently, advances in cardiovascular imaging are impressive. Multimodality imaging including CT, MRI, SPECT, and PET has an important role to diagnose various heart diseases and to evaluate the disease severity to determine the treatment strategy. The number of these examinations has been increasing year by year. The number of SPECT last year is over 1000 in Tokyo Women´s Medical University(TWMU). The number of cardiac CT and MRI is about 600. The number of ammonia(NH3) and FDG PET is about 200. To perform these examinations, cardiovascular imaging team composed of cardiologists and radiologists was formed in our institute. In order to obtain the information that the clinician needs, the examination protocol by each disease is considered by the team. For example, there are two different protocols for cardiomyopathy and congenital heart disease in cardiac MRI, which can minimize the scan time. All examination findings are double checked by cardiologists and radiologists. Mostly, cardiologists write a first report after that radiologists check and write the second report. Functional analysis and image reconstruction of MRI and CT are performed by a member of cardiologist or radiologist. Recently, the necessity of SPECT and NH3-PET to detect functional myocardial ischemia has been increasing. We are one of the few NH3-PET institutes in Japan. Time schedule of the administration of ammonia at rest and stress is very tight because ammonia has a short half-time. Therefore, two or more physicians should correspond to NH3-PET. Collaboration of cardiologists and radiologists is indispensable. In this session, the current situation and problem in TWMU cardiovascular imaging team will be presented.
