BACKGROUND:In the recent drug-eluting stent era, young patients suffering acute myocardial infarction (AMI) has been increasing. However, the impact of age on clinical outcomes are still unclear. METHODS: This study included AMI patients undergoing primary PCI in 5 cardiovascular centers between 2011 and 2016. Patients were divided into 5 groups by age increments at 10-year. The primary endpoint was all-cause mortality. RESULTS: During 662 days of median follow-up, over 70-year groups showed significantly higher mortality than younger 3 groups up to 1 year after AMI (Log-rank: p<0.001, Figure). Multivariate analysis revealed that age classification was an independent predictor of all-cause mortality (adjusted HR: 1.83 (95%CI: 1.06-3.15)). CONCLUSIONS:There was an obvious difference of clinical outcomes between under and over 70 years old in AMI patients undergoing primary PCI. |
