概要 | Obesity paradox exists in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Previous reports showed that higher body mass index (BMI) is associated with lower mortality in AMI patients. However, recent communities study reported that obesity is associated with increased risk of sudden cardiac death (SCD). In the cohorts of East Asians, a U-shaped association was observed between BMI and the risk of cardiovascular death. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relation of BMI to all-cause death and SCD in Japanese AMI patients remains unknown. We examined the effect of BMI on mortality in Japanese AMI survivors from a pooled database from JCAD study and HIJAMI II registry. We hypothesised that risk of SCD would be directly and independently associated with BMI. Patients (n=6,174) were categorized into BMI groups at baseline; BMI <20.0 kg/m2 (n=784), BMI 20.0 to 27.4 kg/m2 (n=4,716), and BMI ≥ 27.5 kg/m2 (n=674). Outcomes, SCD or all-cause mortality, were stratified by baseline BMI |
