概要 | Aim: To investigate the efficacy of staging laparoscopy in gastric cancer.
Methods: 11 patients who underwent staging laparoscopy at our department between year 2007 and 2013 were analyzed, retrospectively. Results: There were 8 male and 3 female patients. Staging laparoscopy was performed for the patients suspect of peritoneal dissemination. Staging laparoscopy was performed prior to the therapy in 10 patients. One patient had treated with 5 courses of S-1 and cisplatin, and staging laparoscopy was carried out due to judge the effect of chemotherapy. Peritoneal dissemination was noted and subsequent resection was not performed in this case. Staging laparoscopy provided with the diagnosis of peritoneal dissemination and cytology of the ascites. In 7 cases, peritoneal dissemination was noted and systemic chemotherapy was introduced. In the absence of overt macrsopic dissemination, we selected neo-adjuvant chemotherapy in 3 patients. One patient had been operated for the radical operation. There was no complication associated with staging laparoscopy. Conclusions: Staging laparoscopy could determine the treatment strategy of advanced gastric cancer depending on the severity of peritoneal dissemination in a safe manner. |
