概要 | 2008-10-2:ポスター 髄膜腫・神経鞘腫1
OBJECTIVE The objective of the present analysis was evaluation of possible associations between content of choline-containing compounds (Cho) detected by proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) with proliferative activity of meningiomas. MATERIALS AND METHODS One hundred patients (78 women and 22 men; mean age, 56 years) with histologically confirmed meningiomas were included in the study. Before surgery all tumors were evaluated with single-voxel long-echo MRS. RESULTS Histopathological investigation revealed 82 WHO grade I meningiomas, 11 – WHO grade II, and 7 – WHO grade III. MIB-1 index varied from 0% to 27.3% (mean, 3.2%), and in 18 cases, it was more, than 5%. Preoperative MRS-detected Cho content in meningiomas estimated relatively to normal brain tissue varied from 0.13 to 13.11 (mean, 2.28), and was significantly greater in cases with MIB-1 rate more, than 5% (3.13 vs. 2.09; P=0.0444). CONCLUSION MRS-detected Cho content seems to be associated with proliferative activity in meningiomas, and may be potentially helpful for non-invasive identification of biologically aggressive neoplasms. |
