Summary | In our intelligent operating theatre the peri-226operative structure of target tumor, especially the spatial relationship among nerve fibers such as pyramidal tracts containing functional information is clearly visualized to show to the operating team by integrating all sorts of medical imaging information. A navigation technology (new eyes) which real-timely updates the previous intraoperative images compensates an intraoperative brain shift (brain deformation and movement due to surgical manipulation), so that the surgery can be performed precisely and safely. We are developing a manipulator for pin-point surgery and CAD-CAM laser operation system as new hands of surgeons. A new brain (strategy desk) which controls the new hands accurately and safely based on the medical imaging information visualized using the new eyes and the new hands which ablate malignant tumor as close to functional area as possible while keep functional deficits remain minimally. This new system will be put into practice in near future.
